The US Embassy, Trinidad & Tobago, donated two computers to the Buccoo Reef Trust (BRT) in support of the Tobago Coastal Ecosystem Mapping Project.
This two-year project, which is being overseen by Coral Cay Conservation, will generate information on Tobago’s coral reef habitats and incorporate the results into maps as part of a Geographic Information System (GIS) database, which will be available to resource managers. Coral Cay Conservation will provide training and conservation education opportunities for Tobagonians and offer scholarships to citizens of T&T that will support their involvement in the mapping project and help them learn more about the island’s reefs. This mapping programme is jointly sponsored by the Tobago House of Assembly, the United Nations Development Programme and the Buccoo Reef Trust. Contact the BRT for further information and scholarship details.
