Education
Building Environmental Awareness of Coastal Habitats or the BEACH Programme, is empowering people at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education and throughout the community.
- Coral reef education is introduced in all primary schools, along with the "Windows Around the World" which is an internet link between primary schools in the western hemisphere.
- Sea, Sun and Science: A Marine Science Experience is a vacation programme which exposes teenagers and secondary school teachers to the marine sciences in a dynamic, interactive learning environment.
- Community based education initiatives range from training reef tour operators to producing documentary films that have been broadcast throughout the English speaking Caribbean.
- Research and exchange opportunities are available for university students from institutions in the Caribbean, the UK and the USA.
- The Film Unit documents the activities and initiatives of the Trust using some of the latest technology in videography. HD cameras and state of the art equipment capture images of the underwater world that are used in classrooms, and in media productions broadcast locally and regionally.
- The Buccoo Reef Trust website is a resource for students, teachers, and the public that highlights information and data on Tobago's marine environment. The Buccoo Reef Trust's presence on YouTube allows for streaming of and easy access to video footage and on Facebook allows for unique interaction with our friends.
